Coaching Tips
Baseball Tips For Parents
We all want to see our kids succeed in sport. Most coaches know that our season in Saskatchewan is very short and it is extremely hard to get enough repetition during practices for your players. Many of the skills not only can be practiced with a coach but also with a parent or friends. Here are some tips which the Sask. Baseball Coach and Development Committee have provided to aid parents. Some of these drills can done in the backyard or indoors in a gym. These drills are good for Rookie players to Pee Wee.
* Have your child practice throwing and receiving by playing catch on a regular basis either at home or at a park.
* Buy a couple of waffle balls or badminton birdies and have batting practice in your own backyard. No broken windows!
* Use a tennis racket and tennis balls or some other ball that is soft to hit fly balls and ground balls to your child. Practice with a soft ball helps a child build confidence.
PARENT GUIDELINES
* I will remember that every child has the opportunity to participate in sports regardless of ability level.
* I will lead by example, in demonstrating good sportsmanship to my child.
* I will remember that coaches are volunteers & committed to the program because they enjoy working with children.
